This section of the User's Reference provides the information required to perform routine operating procedures within Reality. It is organised into a number of parts describing the procedures for using the major operational facilities of Reality. Procedures covered include:

Spooler
Overview of Spooler Operation describes elements involved in the operation of the Reality Spooler, including: print reports, print jobs, formqueues, hold files, output devices, remote spooling, network printing, printer interface scripts for private printers and printer control features including: printer independence, printer command strings and epilogues and prologues.
General Spooler Procedures describes a number of TCL Spooler commands that cannot be executed from the SP-STATUS or SP-JOBS screens.
SP-STATUS and Related Procedures describes how to display and maintain the status of the Spooler's formqueues using SP-STATUS and associated commands.
SP-JOBS and Related Procedures describes how to display and maintain the status of print jobs using SP-JOBS and associated commands.
Spooling System Maintenance describes the SPM utility which is used to configure and maintain formqueues and despoolers and provides the capability to create and change printer command strings.
In addition, in the Additional Information section there are the following topics:
- Status Conditions and Values, lists the status conditions which may be displayed by SP-STATUS or SP-JOBS for a particular print job, formqueue or despooler.
- SPOOL.JOBS Dictionary Items, contains a list of data definition items held in the SPOOL.JOBS dictionary. They are used by ENGLISH to display a report of print jobs in the SPOOL.JOBS file. These items must be copied into the dictionary of any user-specified job file in order to be able to display a report of print jobs in that file.
- Spooler File Formats, describes the format of items in the PRINT.JOB.CONTROL file, FORM.QUEUES file and DESPOOLER.CONTROL file.
- Checking for Spooler Errors, describes the use of ENGLISH to look at Spooler error records in the SYSTEM-LOG file.
Save and Restore
Save and Restore describes the TCL commands and procedures for saving all or part of a database to tape, and to restore files, accounts or a whole database.
Magnetic Tape Units
Tape Operation and Commands describes the TCL commands and procedures used for operating magnetic tape units. It includes a summary of all available tape commands, grouped by category, and a detailed description of each.
TIPH
Using TIPH, provides an explanation of how and when to use the Terminal Independent Process Handler (TIPH).
