CLEAR-ASSIGN

Cancels all or specified channel assignments for the current process and detaches the associated tape units.

Command Class

TCL-I command.

Syntax

CLEAR-ASSIGN {channel}

Syntax Elements

channel Optional. The channel assignment (A-Z) to be cancelled. If omitted, all assignments on the process on which the command is being executed are cancelled.

Comments

CLEAR-ASSIGN operates on channels associated with the current user process only.

Example

:CLEAR-ASSIGN A

The assignment associated with channel A is cancelled and the associated tape unit is detached.
