Local Host Entry

A Local Host entry allows you to specify a DDA network name for your host system. This name will then be included in the Client-ID whenever you make a connection. You can only have one Local Host entry in your ROUTE-FILE.

At the Entry type  prompt, enter 7  for ‘Local Host’. You will see the following prompts:

  1. Enter Local System Name [q] :

The local system name can be the same as that of an existing Listening entry, or can be unique. It must not be the same as that of any other type of entry. The name must contain at least one character (it cannot be the single letter ‘q’) and must not be greater than 49 characters in length.

  2. comment :

The comment line may be up to 78 characters of alphanumeric text, describing the ROUTE-FILE entry.

  3. Finally, the complete entry is displayed, as in the example below.
    System name : rigel
    Entry type : Local System
    Comment :
    commit entry [y,(n),q] :n
    • Enter y  to confirm the entry.
    • Enter n  or press RETURN to leave the ROUTE-FILE unchanged.
