Install_Key

Installs Reality software keys.

Syntax

UNIX

/etc/Install_Key {-i keyfile}

Windows

Install_Key {-i keyfile}

Parameters

-i keyfile Install the keys from the specified key file.

Availability/Restrictions

UNIX

Can be used by the super-user only.

Windows

Should only be used by the administrator.

Comments

• When run without the -i option, Install_Key prompts for the following:

  Part Number An 8 digit part number that identifies the type of key being installed (for example, 70031088 is the interactive users key). Do not include any suffix.

  Software Key A 24 character software key; for example, 2543 B82E 9E48 BE86 FEC2 28A4

  Comment Enter an appropriate comment, if required.

• When run with the -i option, Install_Key installs keys from the specified key file. Note, however, that Install_Key does not install serial numbers. If a serial number key is found in the key file, it is ignored. To install serial number keys, use Install_SN or, on UNIX, installkeys.

Note that on Windows, the preferred method of installing software keys is by use of the Reality installation program – this can be run from the Add or Remove Programs option on the Windows control panel. Refer to the Reality on Windows Installation Guide for details.

The show_key command displays the current Reality serial number, customer id and installed software keys.
