Syntax

install_rt {-p port} {-l logfile} {-x}

install_rt -q

Parameters

-l logfileLog to a file other than the default.

-p portUse a port other than the default.

-q Query the state of the remote tape server.

-x Turn full logging on.

Availability/Restrictions

install_rt is available on any UNIX system that has the Reality Remote Tape Server installed.

Can be used by the super-user only.

Comments

The remote tape server should normally be installed from the Reality CD (refer to the Reality External Components Installation Guide for details). install_rt allows you to reconfigure the remote tape server to use a different port, should this be necessary.

The default port number is 52001.

The default log file is /var/log/realrt.log.

install_rt adds an entry into /etc/services for the port number. It then adds an entry into /etc/inetd.conf so that the inetd listens on the relevant port and starts the realrt daemon.
