Reality V15.0 ()
AFS-TRIM command (m605006+afstrim.htm)
Recover unused disk space from a file data section or index that is configured for automatic file sizing.
AFS-TRIM file-specifier {index-name}
file-specifierThe name of the required file data section or of the file containing the required index.
See General Conventions for the full syntax of file-specifier.
index-nameOptional. The name of the required index.
As an AFS file expands, disk space is reserved for the additional groups required. In a large AFS file that has stopped expanding, this can mean that a large amount of disk space is unavailable for use by other files. AFS-TRIM allows you to recover this unused disk space.
Can only be run by the database owner.
AFS-TRIM will fail if the file is expanding at the time.
Frequent use of AFS-TRIM on files that are still expanding is not recommended. This can impact filing system performance and eventually limit the maximum size of the file.
