Character Translation

Any necessary character translation is performed by REMLOG so that the P-Series terminal codes used by a Northgate system are translated to the appropriate codes for a UNIX terminal.

Character translation is only required when the remote environment is a Reality environment and the terminal in use is not a member of the Northgate P-Series.

Once REMLOG is running, character translation can be turned on and off using the SET command. By default, character translation is turned off.

Note: Character translation is not performed on character mode (ACI) circuits.
