The cursor back command moves the cursor one character to the left. If the cursor is at the left-most column, the cursor back command moves the cursor to the last character of the preceding line.
The BACKSPACE key is a non destructive backspace when in Edit Mode. When in Input Mode, BACKSPACE is destructive.
On some terminals, the back arrow (←) key is collocated with the numeral 4 on the numeric keypad, while on others the ← key is on a separate cursor control keypad. In either case, the ← key and the numeral 4 produce the same result.
