Reality in the Host Environment
This section contains an overview of the Reality software and database structures in the host environment, and the ways in which those environments can be integrated.
Overview
The Reality software is located in a host directory called realman.
-
On UNIX, this is the /usr/realman directory.
Note
The Reality software is actually installed in the home directory of the realman user (you must create this user before installing the software), and is linked to the /usr/realman directory so that it is accessible from the same location on all systems.
-
On Windows, the realman folder is located in the root of the drive you specify when you install the software (for example, C:\realman).
A database may be located at any convenient point in the host file system. Normally a large database will consist of multiple partitions or files on multiple file systems, with a home directory containing configuration files, etc. Smaller, self contained databases may be created in any user's directory.
Reality/host integration can be achieved in various ways. For example, by viewing host data from within Reality, and by executing host commands from Reality or Reality commands from the host.
