UNIX-Connect
System Administration
Introduction
UNIX-Connect is the generic name for a family of products enabling communication between UNIX systems supported by NEC Software Solutions and the Reality, RealityX and SovereignX environments.
This section is intended for UNIX system administrators, and describes the configuration and maintenance procedures for UNIX-Connect. It is assumed that the reader has a working knowledge of UNIX, and also of Reality, RealityX or SovereignX.

Overview, provides an overview of UNIX-Connect, its main features, and how it works.

Printer Administration, describes how to configure network printers and make them available to UNIX and Reality users, and also how to configure Reality printers so that they can be used by UNIX users.

The ROUTE-FILE, describes the file that holds the details of the hosts to which you will connect, the different types of ROUTE-FILE entry and when to use them. It also describes the ROUTE-FILE Maintenance Utility, which allows you to create, modify and delete ROUTE-FILE entries.

Session Manager, describes a dedicated UNIX process, which accepts incoming calls for the local system and maintains a log of outgoing connections. For incoming calls, the session manager also performs security checking.

Network Security, describes the security features provided by UNIX-Connect.

General Administration Tasks, describes general administration tasks, configuration that you will need to carry out in remote non-UNIX environments, and UNIX environment variables.

Example Configuration, provides an example network configuration.

npu Command, describes the command line interface to the Network Printing Utility.
