Reality Entries

A Reality entry is required to accept incoming calls to a Reality database.

At the Entry type prompt, enter 4 for ‘Reality’. You will see the following prompts:

  1. Enter System Name [q] :

The system name must contain at least one character (it cannot be the single letter ‘q’) and must not be greater than 49 characters in length.

In the majority of cases, the system name must be unique. However, a Reality entry can have the same system name as a Q-type entry that references the Reality database.

  2. Enter database path [q]:

Enter the full pathname of the Reality database (refer to your Reality documentation for details).

  3. Enter REALROOT [q]:

    • If you are using the default (live) version of Reality, simply press RETURN.

    • If you are not using the default (live) version of Reality, enter the full REALROOT pathname — refer to Reality Executables Directory for details.

  4. Enter path to reality executable [q]:

    • If you are using the default Reality executable for the live version of Reality, or for the version specified by REALROOT, simply press RETURN.

    • If you are not using the default Reality executable, enter the pathname of the required executable. If you omit the leading ‘/’ character, the pathname is assumed to be relative to REALROOT — refer to Reality Executables Directory for details.

  5. Comment:

The comment line may be up to 78 characters of alphanumeric text, describing the ROUTE-FILE entry.

  6. Finally, the complete entry is displayed, as in the example below.

    System name : DB1
    Entry type : Reality
    Database path : /usr0/realman/DB1
    REALROOT path :
    Executable path : -
    Comment : DB1 database
    commit entry [y,(n),q] :
    • Enter y  to confirm the entry.

    • Enter n  or press RETURN to leave the ROUTE-FILE unchanged.
