Miscellaneous FailSafe Procedures
This topic describes additional procedures for administering a FailSafe database configuration, carried out from the tlmenu Miscellaneous menu. They include procedures for:
- Logging Off Users and Locking FailSafe Database
- Unlocking FailSafe Database
- Swapping Primary and Secondary Databases (continue FailSafe)
- Stopping the Secondary (break FailSafe)
- Use Alternative FailSafe Link (change from the preferred route to the fallback or vice versa)
Other procedures on the menu are the same as for Miscellaneous Transaction Logging Procedures.
Overview
Additional procedures which are needed to administer FailSafe, but do not come under the general topics of Routine Maintenance, Configuration and Setup, or Database Recovery, are carried out from the tlmenu Miscellaneous menu, displayed by selecting option 4 on the main administration menu. Refer to tlmenu for an overview.
The first two procedures listed on the Miscellaneous menu are detailed in Miscellaneous Transaction Logging Procedures. The remainder (options 3 to 7) are detailed here.
Each procedure, started by selecting a sub-menu option, comprises a sequence of message prompts to guide you through the process. Refer to Replies to Prompts for a description of the required responses.
