Screen Editor Commands

This section lists all of the Screen Editor commands and describes how they are used.

Overview

Screen Editor commands are one character codes or control character sequences. Commands can be used at any time while in Edit Mode. Commands are action immediate - pressing the appropriate character key executes the command immediately.

Commands not Sensitive to Case

Screen Editor commands are not case sensitive. Those commands that are alphabetic characters can be entered as either upper or lower case.

Command parameters are not input with the command as they are with the Line EDITOR. When parameters are required, you are prompted for them on the Status/Command Line.

Command Conventions

Most Screen Editor commands require no other input than the command itself. If further input is required, you are prompted on the Status/Command Line. Conventions for that input are explained with the appropriate command.

Screen Width

The Screen Editor displays on an 80 column or a 132 column screen. No command is required. To get 132 column display, change the Terminal Width to 132 using the TERM command at TCL prior to entering the Screen Editor.
