UNIX-Connect Administration

netadmin

The majority of the administration tasks in the UNIX environment are carried out using the netadmin utility (previously called mdisnet). To run netadmin, log on as root and enter the following command:

/usr/RCS/bin/netadmin

You will see the following menu:

                        UNIX-CONNECT NETWORK MANAGEMENT
    1   print
    2   routefile
    3   sessionmgmt
    4   userfile
    number (or q)

Network Management Commands

The netadmin menu contains the following commands, each of which displays a further menu:

print The print menu contains commands for configuring network printers and associating UNIX lp printer names with formqueues in Reality environments. See Printer Administration for more details.

routefile Routing information used by the UNIX-Connect software is held in the UNIX file /etc/ROUTE-FILE. The route file management menu contains commands for administering the ROUTE-FILE.

sessionmgmt The session manager menu contains commands for controlling the session manager process.

userfile The users file management menu contains commands for administering the USERS-FILE.

Note

When using netadmin commands, the acceptable responses to a prompt are normally shown in square brackets. Where the option has a default value, this is shown in parentheses (round brackets); the default can be accepted by pressing RETURN. You should accept the default values unless advised otherwise by your NEC Software Solutions representative.

Configuring the Remote Environment

Although the majority of administration tasks are performed on the local system, in some cases you will also need to configure the remote environment.
