Creating English Dictionary Items

Because Screen Editor can create null attributes, it makes the creation of dictionary items easier. When creating the dictionary item, just press RETURN for each field that is null. You do not have to place a period (or other character) on each field and then go back and group delete the characters as you do with the Line Editor.

For example:

0001 A
0002 15
0003 AMOUNT
0004
0005
0006
0007 MD2,$
0008
0009 R
0010 12

When creating the above dictionary item, press RETURN on lines 0004, 0005, 0006, and 0008. After typing the '2' on Line 0010, press ESC to return to Edit Mode. If you press RETURN after typing '2' on line 0010, you will create line 0011.

Deleting Null (Blank) Lines

To delete null lines, go to that line and press D (Delete Character). Because only an attribute mark is on the line, the Delete Character command deletes the attribute mark, thereby deleting the line. The following lines then scroll up one line.
