T-ERASE

Erases a quarter inch cartridge (QIC) tape and re-positions it at the beginning-of-tape (BOT) marker. T-ERASE should always be executed before writing data to a QIC tape.

Command Class

TCL-I command.

Restriction

Used with quarter inch tape drives only.

Syntax

T-ERASE {channel}

Syntax Elements

channel Optional. The channel to which the required tape units have been attached using the ASSIGN command. If omitted, the tape units attached to the default channel are used.

Comments

Before using T-ERASE, you must attach the required tape units to the port.

The cartridge write-protect plug should be in the write-permitted position (arrow pointing away from 'safe').
