Save and Restore

This topic lists the utilities that can be used, both at TCL and from the host, to save and restore data from a Reality database.

Reality provides TCL and host commands to save selected files, one or more accounts, or a complete database to tape, and to restore a complete database or selected files. These commands can be used for database backup or data portation to another Reality database or Reality system.

Host backup utilities available for UNIX and Windows can be used to backup and restore your system, including or excluding Reality databases - see Backup and Recovery on the Host for more details.

Note: The Transaction logging feature can be used to record changes made between backups. In the event of a system failure, the logs can be replayed to bring the restored database fully up to date.
