Setting-up Network Logon

Network Logon allows users to use the NET-LOGON command to log on terminals which can be accessed via a network from a Reality database. The terminal must be connected to a terminal server.

Procedure

To configure a network logon via a terminal server:

  1. Configure the terminal server port. On an MPTS terminal server use the following settings:

    • Set option 1 (Type) to INCOMING.
    • Set option 22 (Port accessible by Northgate) to NO.
    • Set option 23 (Port Accessible by TCP/IP) to YES. You will be prompted to enter an IP address and port number (normally 1202).
    • Set option 26 (Port accessible by ISO pipe) to NO.

Other terminal servers will be similar - refer to the manufacturer's documentation for details.

  2. On the host, set up a destinationClosed ROUTE-FILE entry for the remote terminal using TCP/IP in character mode (UNIX) or the Telnet protocol (Windows). Set the remote host address to the IP address of the terminal server and the port number to that used by the terminal server (normally 1202).
