Changing Network Passwords

You can change or delete the password associated with a network user-id by using the RUFMUP command.

Note: You should only change the password for a network user-id if the password has been changed on the remote system.

To use the RUFMUP command, enter:

RUFMUP

Your current user-id and existing network user-id records are displayed, for example:

you are logged on as fred
subrecord to alter password in
1.   Destination system   : SPI-20
     Destination userid   : TOM
2.   Destination system   : SPI-21
     Destination userid   : DICK
3.   Destination system   : *
     Destination userid   : HARRY

Enter a number [q]:

Note: A system name of * means any system for which there is no specific entry.

To change a password, enter the number associated with the system for which the password is to be changed. The following is displayed:

changing password for user UserId to destination System

1. Change password
2. Delete password
Enter a number [q]

where UserId is the your user-id on the local system, and System is the name of the remote system.

Changing a Password

To change an existing password, enter 1 in response to the Enter a number: prompt. You will be prompted for the new password:

password [q]:

Enter the new password. You will be prompted to confirm the new password:

re-enter password [q]:

Confirm the password by entering it again. The following is displayed:

Note: You cannot delete a password with this option. If you press ENTER when prompted for the new password, you will set the password to carriage return.

Deleting a Password

To delete an existing password, enter 2 in response to the Enter a number: prompt. The following is displayed:

Note: You should only delete the password for a network user-id if the password has been deleted on the remote system.
