Assigns or removes the specified Despooler to/from the specified formqueue, as determined by the options used.
With no options used, the specified Despooler is assigned exclusively, and all other Despoolers currently assigned are deleted from the formqueue's Despooler list.
Form Queue - Despooler Name -
SP-DEVICE form-queue despooler-name {(options}
form-queue (Form Queue)
is the name of the formqueue to which the Despooler is to be assigned.
despooler-name (Despooler Name)
is the name of the Despooler to be assigned.
If you specify a null (0) despooler-name with no options, all Despoolers in the formqueue's Despooler list are deleted.
A Appends despooler-name to list of Despoolers assigned to form-queue.
D Deletes despooler-name from list of Despoolers assigned to form-queue.
Parameters must be entered in the order and number shown in the syntax description and are assigned in that order. Entering SP-DEVICE with only the formqueue name causes it to re-prompt for the Despooler name.
You can also use SP-DEVICE with the old 3.1 syntax. This allows you to change tape device characteristics without using the SPM utility. This is described in the topic SP-DEVICE with RealityX 3.1 Syntax.
Any number of formqueues can be assigned to the same Despooler and any number of Despoolers can be assigned to one formqueue.
To assign the system printer 'laser', to the formqueue called LABELS and remove any other Despoolers currently assigned, enter:
SP-DEVICES LABELS LASER
where LASER is the system Despooler for 'laser'.
Alternatively, enter:
SP-STATUS
Then select Action Code 4 at the Form Queue Status screen prompt: At the next prompt enter the formqueue and Despooler names.
Form Queue - Despooler -:LABELS LASER
To assign the Despooler TAPE3 to the formqueue TAPE*ACC, enter:
SP-DEVICES TAPE*ACC TAPE3
Alternatively, enter:
SP-STATUS
Then select Action Code 4 at the Form Queue Status screen prompt:
Enter Action Code / Page Number (P#)?4
Finally, enter the appropriate parameters in response to the prompts, as follows:
Form Queue - Despooler -:TAPE*ACC TAPE3
To assign a private printer 'slp1' to the formqueue ACCOUNTS, enter:
SP-STATUS
Then select Action Code 4 at the Form Queue Status screen prompt:
Enter Action Code / Page Number (P#)?4
At the next prompt enter the formqueue name and Despooler.
