A synonym account definition item, located in the SYSTEM Dictionary, enables a user to log on to an existing account using a different account name (synonym) and different security and operating characteristics from those of the primary account. The item-id of the Synonym Account Definition Item defines the synonym account name. It is a Q-pointer, so named because attribute 1 contains the letter 'Q'. Attribute 2 defines the primary account. The security and operating characteristics for the synonym account are defined in attributes 5 to 12.
