If your network uses an NSAP format that is different to the default, for OSI full network connections you will need to enter each element of the NSAP separately.
For OSI full network connections, an NSAP is made up of an Initial Domain Part (IDP) and a Domain Specific Part (DSP). The IDP in turn consists of an Authority & Format Identifier (AFI) and an Initial Domain Identifier (IDI). The recommendation for the NSAP on a private LAN is an AFI of 49 (in which case an IDI is not needed) and a DSP containing a sub-net ID, an Ethernet address and an NSAP selector. Your network administrator will know what format to use.
The procedure for entering an NSAP with a format different to the default depends on whether or not you use the default Authority and Format Identifier.
If your NSAP uses the default Authority and Format Identifier, when prompted
Authority & Format Identifier : default 49 [q] :
press RETURN. The following prompt is displayed:
change NSAP format ? : default 490001<ethernet_address>01 [y,(n),q]:
At this point, you can accept the default NSAP format by pressing RETURN.
To enter an NSAP in a different format, enter y
. The
following prompt is displayed:
Domain Specific Part : [q] :
Enter the complete Domain Specific Part of the NSAP.
If you enter a different Authority and Format Identifier, the following prompt is displayed:
Initial Domain Identifier [q] :
Enter the required Initial Domain Identifier. When you press RETURN, the following prompt is displayed:
Domain Specific Part : [q]:
Enter the complete Domain Specific Part of the NSAP.
