This procedure is used to carry out a controlled shutdown of Transaction Logging on the database.
Caution
Any users currently on the database will be logged off automatically by this procedure. It is therefore recommended that you ensure that all user log off in a controlled way before carrying out this procedure.
Select option 3 on the
Configuration and Setup menu. A message is displayed describing the
purpose of the procedure; enter y to continue. Users
currently logged on to the database are automatically logged off and the
shutdown of Transaction Logging is started.
It takes up to 2 minutes for
Transaction Logging to stop completely. This is to allow time for committed
transactions and updates to reach the clean log. You can monitor the status
of logging by entering S at any menu prompt; see
Show Logging Status Option for details.
